1. I have always known that when I become a teacher, I want to teach the 1st grade. After reviewing the ELA technology standards, I feel confident that I would be able to effectively teach many of them. I think I would be most prepared to teach, which says "Use illustrations and details in a story to describe its characters, setting, or events." I am a visual learner and can usually see how illustrations would give a clearer image into the story that was being told. The standard that I would need to learn more about says "With prompting and support, read prose and poetry of appropriate complexity for grade 1." Although I could learn, I do not know much about poetry and would not be able to teach it very effectively right now.
2. Growing up, I always had Smart Boards in all my classrooms and I would really like to continue using them in my future classroom. I think that they really give an opportunity for each student to interact with the material being taught to them in an effective way. It gives students the opportunity to demonstrate to the rest of the class as well as play interactive and fun games that everyone can participate in. I also would really like to continue using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to give lessons and create worksheets for my students. I would like to teach my students how to use these applications, but it might be too much for just the 1st grade.
3. I really enjoyed completing the Newsletter Design assignment because I know that I will be making newsletters like this for my future classroom. It was so much fun to make up things about a classroom and incorporate them in a fun and colorful way. Next time I will be able to improve on speed, because this made me a long time to make. The reason it took so long is because I have never made something like this, so I had to learn as I went. Next time I will be able to be much more efficient.

I love the way you put your newsletter together! It's so organized and a perfect combo of informative messages and creative visual aids. It's so cute and colorful and I think you did a wonderful job and showing what your future newsletters could look like!
ReplyDeleteI used the same template for my newsletter! I loved how colorful it was and how much room it offered to include information about the "class." I also think that smart boards are extremely important and effective in the classroom.
