1. I have had a twitter account for many years but I have never used it for professional reasons until taking this course. It is very easy to find other professionals in the education field and stay up to date with what is going on in the education world through their feeds. I have been interacting with 4 teaching professionals, named Vicki Davis, Matt Gomez, Kevin Corbett, and Robert J. Maranzo. It has been very interesting to follow their accounts and read about current educational news. Twitter can be helpful in my future career by following colleagues and other professionals to stay up to date.
2. The digital divide is a very serious issue in education today. The divide is between students who have access to computers versus those who do not. Computers play a large role in the classroom and technology is essential these days to learning. Students who do not have access to computers and other technologies will be at a disadvantage for the rest of their lives. As a teacher, it would depend on the amount of money that school had to put towards technology in the classroom. Hopefully the schools that we are employed by will have the resources to provide all students with equal access to computers.
3. I think the student software I will use most in the classroom would be Prezi. I love the layout of Prezi and the way that it is more fun and interactive than a normal presentation. I think it will keep students more engaged in the material and understand it better. When my teachers used Prezi I was much more engaged and likely to pay closer attention. Prezi can be used for any grade level and any subject material! A software I probably will not use often is Excel. I think that this is because I do not know how to use it very well, but if I did maybe it would be more useful to me.

Hey! I love that you brought up the important factor of money and I agree that the technology use in my classroom would also depend on the money the schools have. I also absolutely agree with what you mentioned about Excel and how the more I learn about it, the more likely I will be to use them in my classroom in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi! I agree that students who do not have access to technology in classrooms are disadvantaged for the rest of their lives. I also agree that Prezi is an amazing tool in the classroom and should be more heavily utilized for presentations!
